Queens Park - 2015
I was have been unlawfully cared two times. One time in College Park and another time on Church Street.

I believe the practice needs to stop

You win
It's your show, now
So what's it gonna be
'Cause people
Will tune in
How many train wrecks do we need to see?
Before we lose touch of
We thought this was low
It's bad getting worse so

[Chorus:]
Where'd all the good people go?
I've been changing channels
I don't see them on the TV shows
Where'd all the good people go?
We got heaps and heaps of what we sow

They got this and that and
With a rattle a tat
Testing one two,
Now what you gonna do?
Bad news, misused,
Got too much to lose
Gimme some truth
Now whose side are we on?
Whatever you say
Turn on the boob tube
I'm in the mood to obey
So lead me astray by the way, now

Where'd all the good people go?
I've been changing channels
I don't see them on the TV shows
Where'd all the good people go?
We got heaps and heaps of what we sow

Sitting round feeling far away
So far away but I can feel the debris
Can you feel it?
You interrupt me from a friendly conversation
To tell me how great its all gonna be
You might notice some hesitation
'Cause it's important to you, it's not important to me
Way down by the edge of your reasons
It's beginning to show
And all I really wanna know is...

Where'd all the good people go?
I've been changing channels
I don't see them on the TV shows
Where'd all the good people go?
We got heaps and heaps of what we sow

They got this and that
With a rattle a tat
Testing one, two
Now what you gonna do?
Bad news, misused, give me some truth
You got too much to lose
Whose side are we on today, anyway?
OK, whatever you say.
Wrong and resolute but in the mood to obey
Station to station desensitizing the nation
Going, going, gone.

SERENDIPITY. SERENDIPITOUS.

It is not safe in Toronto because of the police and security guards like these two and not because of the street gangs.

My 1 complaint about this incident is that they were discriminating against me based on the fact that I am Metis and the fact that I have long hair and because they think they have the right to abuse innocent people.

My 2 complaint is the officers being bullies and assuming that I was not a paying customer and that I had no money and that I was homeless.

My 3 complaint is that they assumed that I did not no how to read and write and that I was not recording and that I had no housing and that I was not going to ever complain.

My 4 complaint is that they asked me for ID even after I told them that I was a paying costumer.

My 5 complaint is that they never gave me their company card and they refused to provide me with one after I asked.

My 6 complaint is that maybe they will claim they had the right to ask me for ID and maybe they will claim they had the right to ask me for ID because they needed to identify me and put in their times so they can ban me BUT MY COMPLAINT is that they never did properly inform me of any ban and I never heard them say that I was banded from the building.

My 7 complaint is that this is systematic abuse.

LOL!!!

Q: Is carding a violation of civil rights?

A: I think it is. So do former Chief Justice Roy McMurtry, the Ontario Human Rights Commission, and the Law Union of Ontario. Obviously, the police would argue that carding is legal. But they paid for three legal opinions on carding with public funds, and then never released those opinions. I’d like to know what the police’s lawyers say about carding.

Q: Are you disappointed the first black chief of police supports carding in principle?

A: I’m disappointed that any person who claims to serve the public, black or otherwise, would support carding without providing hard evidence that it is legal and effective. My specific disappointment with Saunders is that he denies his own experiences as a black man who has himself been arbitrarily hassled by police. Saunders recently said he used to get stopped a lot because he wore his baseball cap backwards. Not only is this a ridiculous reason to stop someone, it sidesteps the fact that Saunders was probably stopped for the same reason that I’ve been stopped dozens of times: We are both black men.

Excerpt:
1. The Law Union of Ontario remains of the strong view that both the Toronto Police Service policy with respect to “carding” and the manner in which it is carried out violate the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Human Rights Code. […]
Recommendation 1
7. Given that the Board has had this issue before it for over one year and seems unable to respond to public concern and anger in a timely fashion, we urge the Board to direct Chief Blair to suspend the practice of “carding” until the Board reaches its conclusion with respect to whether the practice violates the Charter and Human Rights legislation.
Recommendation 2
8. In the event that the Board is unwilling to suspend “carding” until these issues have been resolved we urge the Board to forthwith direct Chief Blair to issue a standing order or directive mandating that all officers caution persons approached for the purpose of 208 carding or street checks, advising such persons that they have the right to refuse to answer questions and are free to go.

The allegation is that the two security guards had no legal right to ask me for government ID. That was against my Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Métis person alleges criminal harassment and unlawful carding by security guards.

On September 19, 2015 I was at College Park and I allege discrimination based on the fact that I am Métis person and the fact that he assumed I was homeless and not a paying customer. I am preparing to file a application with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. I am alleging they unlawfully asked me for my ID. I allege he had no right to ask me for ID. I have a total of 53 videos that document my experience and I am prepared to give them to the Tribunal and the media. This abuse is systematic. This carding policy needs to stop.
